Pam Crouse - Chairman & Co-founder

PamBioFave NS craft beer: Whatever home brew friends are sharing around.

First craft beer: La Fin Du Monde – Unibroue , Chambly BC . Also the first time I ever passed out with one foot on the floor to keep the room from spinning.

Bio
Pam was raised in Chester Nova Scotia (drinking town with a sailing problem) and fled to the ‘big’ city of Halifax in 1999 in pursuit of a bigger record collection. Pam started the LBL with Tracy Phillipi in 2013 while working at Garrison Brewing Co. She currently slings beer for Picaroons Traditional Ales, and also sits on the board of CKDU 88.1FM.

Tanya Matheson - Treasurer

tanya bioFave NS craft beer: Whatever is currently in my hand.

Fave craft beer: I love beers from small brewpubs and one-off specialties. I have had some great ones in Ireland. I like the uniqueness and often the gutsiness of these brews.

Occupation:  Evaluation Specialist (hey we can’t all have cool jobs)

Bio
Tanya is Nova Scotia-born and bred having grown up in the small but mighty community of Blandford where she leapt from ice floe to ice floe in the winter, and swam in the frigid waters in so-called summer. She can now often be found walking Ben-the-very-bad-dog in beautiful Dartmouth. Her craft beer background is limited mainly to attending university in Halifax which involved drinking at a lot of local establishments and participating in a few brewery tours which she continued to do post-graduation. Tanya represents ladies who have limited craft beer knowledge yet still want to learn more while they enjoy the welcoming social atmosphere of the Ladies Beer League.

Born on the Prairies, Meg managed to escape at age four and has been happily living on the East Coast ever since. Her love of local craft started 15 summers ago with a sip of raspberry wheat ale at the Halifax JazzFest. Highlights of her five year career in beer include planting rhizomes at Meander River Farm, harvesting hops at Ross Farm and tweeting about the launch of spruce beer. When she’s not sampling the latest seasonal at a local pub, Meg can be found hiking, camping or walking along Martinique Beach.

Bio:
Kelly was born in Ontario, but don’t tell anyone. Before she knew what was what, her parents whisked her and her siblings away to the woods of NB, where she spent the rest of her formative years. As soon as she finished high school, she bolted, living between Halifax and northern Spain for the subsequent 10 years. A reformed wino, Kel is relatively new to the world of beer. That said, she likes drinking beer, she loves making beer, and she hasn’t yet tried swimming in it. She brewed 30 beer in 30 weeks, just before turning 30. She recently acquired her first keg for home brewing and now there’s no going back. Currently, she crafts beta brews for a local brewery, in between slinging pints, teaching other people to brew, and walking her lovely doggo. She’s married to North End Johnny Depp and loves every minute of it. Who knows how long she’ll stick around this time?
